Vacationing with family and meeting new people while traveling should be treated as a family holiday – it is best to leave discussion of both politics and religion at the door to avoid unnecessary contention ruining what is meant to be a time of renewal.
My family is returning from over three weeks on vacation, two weeks on the Grand Canyon, followed by one week in Hawaii. For this same period I have not listened to any conservative talk radio, nor to any podcasts of my favorites. No Rush Limbaugh. No Mark Levin, No Laura Ingraham. None of the excellent opinion pieces made available through OutLoudOpinion. Not to mention several other of my listening sources. Though I have had a few opportunities to delve in the conservative talk stream I have made the conscious decision not to.
Nor have I turned on TV news when in a hotel room. I’ve purposely ignored the TV monitors seen in airports, sports bars, and lobbies displaying most often CNN, sometimes MSNBC, and occasionally Fox News. Except for the accidental reading of front page newspaper headlines at checkout lines or news rags left behind at coffee bars I have happily avoided reading the typical MSM news stories clearly wrought with opinion.
This break from other peoples views has allowed me time to rethink my perceptions of the world. Without the daily dose of conservative messaging to guide my outlook and without the daily affront of liberal messaging to strengthen my cynicism, I can still claim to be confidently conservative. Yes, I have been out of touch but certainly not clueless.
Only in America – According the the New Jersey Supreme Court, non-English speaking drunk drivers are immune from prosecution if they can’t understand police commands spoken in English, This is the result of minority coddling, ridiculous multiculturalism, and culture-destroying political correctness at work.

…or maybe Apple’s “iRug”!
hat tip to TheReligionOfPeace -

The Islamic prayer mat comes into the digital age with the e-rug.
(SOURCE: http://www.thestar.com/living/article/425375)
The Islamic prayer is now going digital, with a prototype of a new prayer mat with built-in sensors, lights, and a display screen to show scripture, alert the user to the next prayer time and find the direction of Mecca. “It will increase their understanding of the scriptures and the quality of the prayer,” says the Muslim inventor Wael Aboulsaadat.
How it works…
The sensors embedded in the rug can detect the user’s posture and if the worshipper makes an error (such as missing or adding a step in the prayer sequence) the sensors will vibrate. It’s a subtle way to help correct the error without breaking the user’s concentration, Aboulsaadat says. “It’s important not to interrupt flow, because that interrupts the focus of prayer.” As well, the user can recite and follow along with the scripture on the screen. “You can customize and choose which prayers to read.”
Three modes…
In addition to the eRug’s prayer mode, the device also has a notification mode that alerts the user to upcoming prayer times (devout Muslims are expected to pray five times a day facing the direction of the holy city of Mecca) and important religious holidays. The eRug’s third mode acts like a compass – complete with a 3D model of the mosque in Mecca – so the user can find its direction wherever he or she may be.
Aboulsaadat will be planning to do simular things for people of other faiths, but since he’s a Muslim he started with the e-rug first.
I tried an audio version of the Quran, in Arabic for true context, but can’t understand one darned word of it!

Below, I have linked to and quoted from two relevant and conflicting news stories that exemplify our society’s insane desire to demand “political correctness” over desired results in a time of crisis. Basically, a leading scientist was appointed to a commission to help solve the Gulf oil leak disaster and then removed from the commission for prior writings that expressed thoughts critical of homosexual activities and questioning the “racism” of diversity efforts on our society. Suppose this guy would actually have the best solution for stopping the oil spill and/or preventing such disasters in the future? Is the sensitivity to the gay community or the offense to a minority group more important than saving the Gulf Coast and the lives of all those affected by this disaster? President Obama is sending his “top” people to oversee the crisis and provide solutions. Imagine how their efforts will be hampered by trying to avoid any speech or action that might be perceived as offensive in the public eye. I hope that whatever solution is proposed to mitigate the situation doesn’t offend someone because of their sexual preferences or racial/religious hyper-sensitivity.
Political correctness in times of crises will be the death of our nation!
Got this from a friend on FaceBook. I’m sure not as offensive as drawing a picture of Mohammad but certain to raise the ire of Jihadists and those humorless devotees to political correctness in the West.

Check out these word definitions of Islamic concepts from Princeton University’s WordNet, a Lexical Database for English. What strikes me is that where Muslims are a minority they are persecuted (my highlight), but where they are the majority there is no persecution. Sure, just ask any dhimmi or Christian living in the Middle East!
Dar Al-Harb – House of War
Noun. areas where Muslims are in the minority and are persecuted
Dar Al-Islam – House of Islam
Noun. areas where Muslims are in the majority

Why does the President and his current crop of cronies avoid expressing the deserved truth about Islamic extremism in the face of clear and continuous evidence? Is it out of concern that “irrational” American citizens will lash out against Muslims due to mistrust and fear? Could they be thinking that terrorist anger will be mitigated by our avoiding accusations and appearing non-confrontational? Is it for fear of angering the majority of allegedly “moderate”, peaceful Muslims? Whatever the reason, watch as AG Eric Holder refuses to acknowledge an undeniable truth.
Or consider the changes in our terminology about the “War on Terror” as espoused by Janet Napolitano and the Obama administration.
