Several news stories and blogs reported on the birth of a 13 pound baby boy named ‘Jihad’ born to a German woman over the weekend. Here are links to a couple of these stories followed by thoughts I had when reading about the issue:

German mother gives birth to gigantic baby, names him ‘Jihad’

528 pound woman has 14th child in Germany

Out of many reports on this story it seemed as though the “reporter” seemed to wonder why the woman named her child “Jihad”. Buried in the second link above is the explanation. Mom is a devout Muslim!

Jihad’s mother Elfi Yaghi, 40, has so far failed to explain why she gave her son the potentially incendiary name. However, she is understood to be a devout Muslim.

The woman weighs in at 528 pounds, and suffers from untreated gestational diabetes, Her son, Jihad, weighing in at 13 pounds is considered obese at birth and will likely suffer health problems as well (that is, if he doesn’t blow himself up). Additionally, four of his siblings also had birth weights of more than 11lbs putting them in the obesity category, again future burdens on the health care system.

This is the woman’s 14th child! Not one of the reports have made any mention of the father or fathers involved. Where are they? My guess is the father(s) are not in the picture and this women in poor health with 14 kids is dependent on the welfare state. These kids will most likely grow up in poverty, and being raised as Muslims will add to the growing tensions in Germany over Muslim immigration.

Jihad was born in Germany where there are growing tensions between its citizens and the increasing immigrant Muslim community.

Germany has the largest Muslim population in Western Europe after France. Some 3.5 million Muslims live in the country, and 80 per cent of them do not have German citizenship.

My last point is politically incorrect so stop reading now if you don’t want to be offended.

Filling out medical forms for one of my children at urgent care. The form asks for “Mother’s name” and “Mother’s sex”, then “Father’s name” and “Father’s sex”. Such PC ridiculousness makes me angry! Among humans a mother is a female and a father is a male. Claim either one of each or two of one type. Do not conflate the sexes!

Conservative-minded people aren’t against health care for all. We are angry that elitist mandates are crafted and passed as legislation using the tactics of condescension, coercion, and bribery.

Letter to Editors from Dr. Starner Jones

Dear Mr. President:

During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B; ringtone.

While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as “Medicaid”! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.

And, you and our Congress expect me to pay for this woman’s health care? I contend that our nation’s “health care crisis” is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. Rather, it is the result of a “crisis of culture”, a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one’s self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. It is a culture based in the irresponsible credo that “I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me”.

Once you fix this “culture crisis” that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you’ll be amazed at how quickly our nation’s health care difficulties will disappear.

Respectfully,

STARNER JONES
