Imagine living in an apartment building with other tenants that, though languages and specific cultural customs may differ, share common values. Imagine that the tenants have agreed to let the landlord make all decisions about life in the apartments. Imagine that outside are camped vagrants, some possibly harmless and just asking for help, some obviously dangerous and unwilling to reform or compromise. Out of ideological empathy or possibly fear, the landlord decides that tenants must allow some vagrants to live inside their apartments, providing food, clothing, and healthcare without being able to demand any recompense. Criminal activity, violence and disrespect for rules of occupancy are to be expected yet tenants aren’t allowed to evict or even judge such behavior. This mental exercise is nearly a reality for the nation-states in the EU. Most recently with the UN and French officials demanding that the UK accept immigrants to be displaced from a migrant camp slated for destruction in France.

Britain was under pressure yesterday to take in hundreds of migrants who have been living in a shanty town in Calais known as The Jungle. The UN’s refugee chief said Britain should take a share of the migrants who are to be evicted from their shacks when French officials clear the camp, probably early next week. As many as 2,000 foreigners live rough in the Calais area with about 800, mainly from Iraq and Afghanistan, camped in The Jungle.
The proposal by Antonio Guterres raised the prospect of a repeat of the British humiliation when France closed the Red Cross refugee camp at Sangatte seven years ago. Then Britain accepted and gave four-year work permits to 1,200 migrants who had been waiting near the Channel Tunnel mouth in the hope of making a crossing and claiming asylum.
But three months later, it emerged that the great majority had refused work and were costing taxpayers £100,000 a day in benefits.
Clearly they either can’t learn from past mistakes or the blindness of political correctness prevents the UK, the UN, and most of the West from using the necessary discrimination at our borders.
Annie Le
Yet another incident of a young life being taken in an apparently horrific manner occurred at Yale University this past week when Annie Le, a child of Vietnamese immigrants in California and a graduate pharmacology student, disappeared on campus with the subsequent discovery of, first, bloody clothes hidden above ceiling panels and then, five days later, her remains being found hidden in a basement crawlspace in the same building. The discovery of her body happened on the day she was to have been married!
