I have a few questions for those of you critical of the Bush administration, claiming any interrogation techniques on jihadist enemies should be defined as “torture”.
Do any of the people expressing disgust with harsh interrogation techniques have any memory of Sept. 11th?
Do any of these people remember the images from that day of the plane strikes with nearly 3000 humans murdered?
Do any of these people remember the images of civilian victims jumping from the crumbling World Trade Centers to their deaths to avoid the pain of Islamic-induced immolation.
Do any of these people recall the glee broadcast from the Muslim street about the success of the Al Qaeda attacks?
Are these same people unaware that useful information was gained from the harsh interrogations that allowed us to prevent similar attacks in Los Angeles?
Are these people unaware that we learned much about the idealogy and operations of our Islamic attackers?
Do any of these people remember the London bus bombings, the Madrid train bombing, the Bali nightclub bombing, or the multitude of suicide/murder bombings?
Do these people think that the discomfort of an individual with a professed hatred for Western Civilization is of greater concern than the actual safety of innocent human lives?
These questions are all rhetorical as I don’t expect a response from anyone blaming the US for what they consider “horrific” treatment of Islamic jihadists, the same poor souls that would slit the throats of any of their Western defenders.
Followup:
I was reminded of this hypothetical question by CreepingSharia and thought it should be included here:
If an attack was known with certainty to be imminent and an individual with detailed knowledge was in custody, would his civil rights be more important than preventing the deaths of thousands? Oh, wait, we already know what happens here. Remember the case of the wannabe hijacker, Zacarias Moussaoui, in custody a month before 9/11 and the FBI wouldn’t even search his computer hard drive.
Our Jihadist enemies will not be appeased, will not be reasoned with, will not surrender. Should we not take extreme measures against such an enemy?
